2022

It has become somewhat of a tradition to write a little Christmas card blog post every year and take stock - this year is no exception. Last New Years was another lockdown but NOT a promise of the year to come. In February the borders opened and immediately we had some cool remote work guests come to stay, Alesia celebrated her birthday here and we know she will come back, just like Loréne and Flavie who know almost as many people here as us now :-)

In April was the first non corona ramadan in a few years and families gathered to break the fast'. We had ftour with Youssef and Pauline at the beach AND we had our Yoga & Surf retreat again!!! WOW what an amazing week. We had such a fun group, great weather, perfect waves and the best atmosphere. So great to be back doing what we love the most. The skate girls gave us an idea for a new retreat so stay tuned for that.

During summer we had a lot of Moroccan guests and a group of two Danish families who were neighbours at home. The youngest was 8 and all the kids had so much fun hiking in the mountains, surfing and playing for hours at the beach. We went hiking on the hottest day with Simo from Amazigh Hike and Yoga - it was quite a challenge for us, but still a beautiful experience. The house was perfect for this kind of group as everyone could relax and do what they wanted. We also went on a roadtrip to Essaouira. We hope to see them back here, an absolute pleasure. We had Nadine here all through September and as the heatwave passed, the surf season started.

In October we moved back in the house and guests started to come for the surf in particular. We had a week with The Offsite, a workation group started by Lavinia, who does work away weeks in different locations. This was her first trip to Morocco and they had such a nice week, really using the house as it was intended.

After 2 years af planning and pushing we finally had a visit from the gentlemens club. 6 men who had been friends for 30 years. They wanted to try everything Morocco had to offer and they were SO much fun! We are so happy they finally came and we will be talking about them for a long time.

The same week we had a fun colab. Felipe and Lisa had contacted us to ask if they could come and stay - they are the most amazing photographers and you will notice their photos in our feed for sure. We always have trouble taking good pictures inside the house because of the sunscreen on the windows - also it is almost impossible to find a good photo of the three of us together, but Felipe and Lisa had great solutions to those problems and they were a joy to have around.

We also had a very surfy week when Ollie and the Surf Fit academy came to stay and search for waves with us. Another group we think will definitely be back for more. Especially because the swell picked up the day after they left and the most beautiful big waves hit us. Then we repeated the winning formula of the yoga surf retreat, we had a small group and so we could be quite flexible with the things we wanted to do and we had a great time with the girls.

In November we had a fun group of our friends come to stay and finally see what Villa X is all about - we think they definitely understood why we love it here so much. And the last month of the year looked very much like the beginning - with a sweet group of remote workers staying together and creating a wonderful vibe in the villa. We have a full house for our first real post corona NEW YEARS retreat and The group is already settled in - Bring on 2023!
